Bula! To ensure your journey to Taveuni is as relaxing as the island itself, we’ve compiled the following guide. From packing essentials to arrival details, here is everything you need to know before you step into Paradise.
🏝️ Preparing for Paradise: Frequently Asked Questions
What should I pack for my stay?
- Clothing: Casual lightweight clothes, swimwear, a hat, and sunglasses.
- Evening / Diving: A light sweater (especially May–Sept) or for after-diving boat trips.
- Cultural Respect: A sarong (sulu) and a t-shirt that covers your shoulders are required when visiting local villages or churches.
- Footwear: Hiking shoes for activities.
- Essentials: Reef-safe sunscreen and bug spray.
What amenities are in the rooms?
All rooms include air conditioning, a refrigerator, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryers, and bath linens. To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, there are no TVs, phones, or radios in the rooms.
- Power: 240V (Australian standard). Bring an adaptor if your devices use 110V.
- Lighting: We are solar-powered with generator backup. We recommend bringing a torch (flashlight) for walking at night.
- Wi-Fi: Starlink Wi-Fi is available resort-wide. You will receive your access code at check-in.
How do I get to the resort?
- At Nadi Airport: It is a 5-minute walk from International Arrivals to the Domestic Terminal. Fiji Link is strict with luggage weight; be prepared for potential overage fees (payable by card).
- At Taveuni Airport: Our driver will meet you at the arrivals building. The resort is a scenic 1-hour drive away.
- Stops: Your driver can stop at a local shop for snacks or an ATM upon request.
How do payments and currency work?
- Currency: We accept FJD, USD, AUD, NZD, EUR, and GBP.
- Credit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, and Amex are accepted with a 3% admin fee.
- Exchange: We recommend waiting until you arrive in Fiji to exchange currency. Small amounts can be exchanged at Nadi Airport or at the resort.
- ATMs: There is an ATM on the island if you need to withdraw FJD.
What is the tipping and donation policy?
- Tipping: While not mandatory, we encourage contributions to our Staff Christmas Fund rather than individual tips. This is shared equally among all staff four times a year.
- Community Support: We welcome donations of medical, school, or veterinary supplies. We kindly ask that you do not give money or sweets directly to local children or staff.
Useful Quick Tips
